The Long Island Nets Veteran of the Game Program is designed to honor returning armed forces veterans who have worked to protect our freedoms. As part of Bank of America's sponsorship of the Long Island Nets Veteran of the Game Program, the Nets will honor a veteran at each of the Nets 24 regular season home games.

From 2004 to 2005 Sergeant Carpenter was deployed in Iraq and appointed by the Commander for the 1st and 69th Infantry. Sergeant Carpenter was then deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 where he performed 11 Bravo as well as 11 Charles Duties.
