Head Captain- Dennette

Dennette has been dancing for over 20 years. Starting out at the age of 3, her training spans jazz, hip hop, modern, African, and tap. Growing up, she immersed herself in both studio training and performance opportunities, which built the foundation for her unique style and passion for the art.
While pursuing her BA in Public Relations and Dance Performance at Hofstra University, Dennette was selected as President of the university’s Dance Club, where she led performances and created opportunities for fellow dancers to showcase their artistry. During this time, she balanced technique-based training with leadership and choreography, preparing her for both professional and creative roles.
After graduating, Dennette signed with MSA Dance Agency, earning opportunities to perform with renowned artists such as Janelle Monáe and Tone Stith. Her credits also include dancing at major cultural events like Global Citizen and Afropunk, where she brought her artistry to diverse audiences.
Now entering her second season with the NBA G-League Long Island Nets Dance Team, Dennette leads as Team Captain, bringing her character driven style to the court while guiding her teammates both on and off the floor. As a Long Island native, this role holds a special meaning. It allows her to give back to and impact the very communities she grew up in, making her connection to the organization deeply personal.
In addition to performing, Dennette is passionate about teaching, encouraging students to take risks, embrace their individuality, and grow each time they step into the studio. While honoring her passion for dance, she also works full time as an Engagement Strategist at a healthcare agency, where she brings the same creativity, organization, and drive that define her artistry.
Co Captain - Sarah

Sarah has been dancing for 21 years. Starting out on a competitive dance team at her local studio in Queens, NY, her training includes ballet, tap, hip hop, lyrical, jazz & more. She competed in the tap solo category from the age of 6 to 17, as well as group dances of various genres at regional and national competitions. In addition to her competitive team, she moved to Long Island and was apart of a performance-based dance club in high school which exposed her to styles such as modern, African fusion, Street Hip Hop and Broadway jazz. She continued her dance career in college, as she was selected to be a member of the Division 1 St. John’s University Dance Team, while studying as a Physics major.
Throughout her career on the St. John’s Dance Team, she had the honor of winning a national championship in the D1 Hip Hop category at UDA nationals, performing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and calling Madison Square Garden her home, as she performed at every home basketball game. After obtaining her B.S in Physics, she graduated from SJU as a student athlete. She currently works full time as an Engineer for a General Contractor, focused on infrastructure and transit projects in the NYC area. She also works part time as a choreographer for her high school.
Knowing that she wanted to explore professional dance after her collegiate career, she auditioned for the inaugural season of the LI Nets Dance Team and has been a member of their professional dance team ever since. Now as she embarks on her third season with the team, she leads as co-captain while choreographing and continuing to work full time as an Engineer. Living on Long Island for the past decade gives her an even deeper appreciation for this team. She feels honored to perform on court at the Coliseum for every Nets home game, and to be involved in her local LI community with this special organization. A fun fact about Sarah is that she was surrounded by a family of squid while swimming in the Nylon Pool of Tobago, twin island to Trinidad where her mother is from!
