LONG ISLAND’S 43-POINT FOURTH QUARTER TAKES DOWN GO-GO

LONG ISLAND (Dec. 12, 2023) – The Long Island Nets (7-5), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Capital City Go-Go (6-5), 108-104 on Tuesday evening at Nassau Coliseum. 

The Nets were led by Brooklyn two-way forward Keon Johnson, who tallied 26 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 36 minutes. While on assignment with Long Island, Brooklyn center Noah Clowney notched his fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds to go along with three blocks in 33 minutes. Long Island guard Kyler Edwards posted 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal in 36 minutes. Nets guard Terry Roberts recorded 14 points, two assists and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench.  

Long Island had a slow start in the first quarter, while Capital City shot 52.2 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from behind the arc. The Go-Go closed the period ahead by 11, 34-23. Despite outscoring Capital City 22-19 in the second quarter, Long Island could not turn the tides. The Nets went into halftime down by eight, 53-45. 

The Nets worked hard to close the gap in the third period, but Capital City kept its foot on the gas. The Go-Go closed the quarter ahead by 17, 82-65. Long Island’s offense turned up the heat in the fourth quarter, scoring 43 points on 57.1 percent shooting from the field and 55.6 percent from deep. The Nets’ defense also shined during the final quarter, forcing eight Go-Go turnovers. Long Island went on to defeat Capital City by four, 108-104. 

Capital City forward Hamidou Diallo posted a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three assists and one steal in 35 minutes. Go-Go forward Jules Bernard added 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 37 minutes. 

Long Island will face Capital City again on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. ET at Nassau Coliseum.
