LONG ISLAND (Dec. 6, 2023) – The Long Island Nets (5-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the College Park Skyhawks (7-4), 119-118 on Wednesday evening at Nassau Coliseum.
Long Island’s effort was led by Brooklyn two-way guard Jalen Wilson with 26 points, nine rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes. Brooklyn two-way guards Keon Johnson and Armoni Brooks posted 18 points and four assists each in 25 minutes and 28 minutes, respectively. While on assignment with Long Island, Brooklyn center Noah Clowney recorded 11 points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in 21 minutes.
College Park’s offense set the pace early with seven 3-pointers in the first quarter. Despite the Skyhawks’ effort, the two teams closed the period tied 30-30. Long Island turned up the heat in the second quarter, outscoring College Park 39-33 on 66.7 percent shooting from both the field and from distance in the quarter. The Nets closed the period ahead by six, 69-63.
Long Island kept its’ foot on the gas in the third quarter as they outscored College Park 31-20 while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. The Nets went into the final quarter ahead by 17, 100-83. College Park tried to battle back in the fourth quarter outscored Long Island 35-19 in the quarter, but it was not enough. The Nets went on to defeat the Skyhawks by one, 119-118.
Atlanta two-way guard/forward Seth Lundy posted 26 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 36 minutes. College Park guard Tyson Etienne recorded 22 points, three assists and two blocks in 29 minutes.
Long Island will face Raptors 905 in the second night of a back-to-back-set on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. ET at Nassau Coliseum. College Park will return home to face Greensboro on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.
