LONG ISLAND (Nov. 7, 2024) – The Long Island Nets, NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, will tip off the 2024-25 NBA G League season in a matchup against the Maine Celtics at 7 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 8 at Nassau Coliseum, presented by Homewood Suites Carle-Place. The LI Nets will continue their opening weekend schedule with their Linking Long Island (Autism Awareness) game against the Westchester Knicks on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at the Coliseum.

To celebrate the first game of the season, the LI Nets will distribute limited-edition branded tumbler cups to the first 1,000 fans to arrive on Friday. Fans can also enjoy free games in the Kids Zone, postgame autographs with select Long Island Nets players and special performances by the Long Island Nets Entertainment teams and Dale the Eagle, the official mascot of the Long Island Nets.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, the Long Island Nets will host “Linking Long Island” night, presented by Nassau and Suffolk County Autism Society of America (NSASA), during which the team will bring awareness and celebrate individuals with autism in the local community. Prior to tip off, the Nets will present the game ball to representatives from NSASA. The LI Nets will also wear a specialty patchwork jersey during the game, that will be auctioned off postgame with all donation proceeds going towards NSASA. The Long Island Nets will turn their VIP Lounge into a quiet area for guests with sensory needs and the national anthem will be sung and presented in American Sign Language by Collaboration Station Inc., a local company that provides an array of community language classes to foster an inclusive and positive environment on Long Island. Additionally, the first 500 fans to arrive for Sunday’s game will receive a commemorative Dale the Eagle puzzle.

“We’re thrilled to tip off our ninth season in front of the best fans in the NBA G League,” said Morgan Taylor, Vice President of Business Operations of the Long Island Nets. "This year, we’re proud to recognize the diverse townships across Long Island that make our fan base so special. We believe it’s essential to create welcoming and inclusive environments for all, especially in the community in which we live, work and play. Our commitment to inclusion is at the core of who we are, and we’re ready to celebrate with our fans and partners this season.”

To give back to the community during Opening Weekend, the LI Nets will host a food drive at their games on Sunday, Nov. 10 and Tuesday, Nov. 12, in partnership with Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank, a nonprofit organization that seeks to address food insecurity while providing educational resources about the root causes and consequences of hunger on Long Island. Fans who donate nonperishable goods on Nov. 10 and Nov. 12 in the designated donation boxes in sections one and three will receive a 15 percent discount for purchases made at the Long Island Nets merchandise store.

Additionally, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, three-time Grammy Award winning Gospel artist, Donnie McClurkin will sing the national anthem as part of a larger partnership with Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, N.Y.
