The first month of the NBA G League season is in the books, and the Long Island Nets made plenty of history along the way.
The Nets started off the month with a victory in their home opener against the Capital City Go-Go, 109-102. Brooklyn Nets assignee Ben Saraf made franchise history as the first Long Island Nets player to score at least 20 points off the bench in their NBA G League debut, while Nets forward Danny Wolf, who was also on assignment from Brooklyn, became the eighth player in franchise history to record a double-double in his first career G League game.
In a rematch against the Go-Go on Nov. 9, Wolf posted his second straight double-double, joining Noah Clowney and Day’Ron Sharpe as the only Nets to record consecutive double-doubles to begin their NBA G League careers.
During Long Island’s home matchup against the Greensboro Swarm, Tre Scott grabbed his 100th offensive rebound with Long Island after recording eight boards to go along with 19 points. Yuri Collins also reached 1,000 career points in the NBA G League (combined Tip-Off Tournament and regular season) as he scored a team-high 24 points against Greensboro.
The Nets traveled to College Park and dominated the Skyhawks, 125-101, while setting a franchise record for second-chance points in a single Tip-Off Tournament game with 31.
Malachi Smith recorded a season-high 24 points with four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench against College Park. Scott posted another double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in 32 minutes, and Hunter Cattoor added a season-high 14 points off the bench while dishing out four assists in 23 minutes.
The Nets then traveled back to the Coliseum to play a two-game set against Raptors 905.
Scott scored a career-high 27 points in the first matchup with the 905, while Nate Williams scored a season-high 30 points in the second game. Williams added four offensive rebounds to become the only player in the NBA G League averaging at least two offensive rebounds, two steals and two made 3-pointers per game through the first month of the season.
Yuri Collins reached another milestone as he became the eighth player in franchise history with at least 50 total assists through their first nine games with the Nets.
Long Island finished the month with a 3-6 record and a 111.3 defensive rating that ranks 14th in the NBA G League.
