Long Island Nets Deactivate Lazar Hayward Due To Injury, Acquire J.J. Moore and Waive Austin Freeman

BROOKLYN (Nov. 15, 2016) – The Long Island Nets, the NBA Development League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have deactivated forward Lazar Hayward due to an injury sustained in Long Island’s game at Canton on November 12. Hayward was diagnosed with a fractured right hand and will undergo surgery. A timetable for his return will be established following the procedure.

In a corresponding move, Long Island acquired forward J.J. Moore from the available player pool. Moore (6’6”, 215) was a part of Long Island’s training camp roster before being waived by the team on November 7. The native of Brentwood, N.Y. was originally acquired by Long Island with the 14th pick in the third round of the 2016 NBA D-League Draft.

Long Island also requested waivers on guard Austin Freeman today. Freeman’s returning player rights were originally acquired by the LI Nets in the 2016 NBA D-League Expansion Draft. He was inactive for Long Island’s first two games of the season.
