Long Island Nets Acquire Returning Player Rights to Will Davis II in Trade with Capital City

LONG ISLAND (Feb. 20, 2019) – The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have acquired the returning player rights to center Will Davis II from the Capital City Go-Go in exchange for the Nets’ second and third round picks in the 2019 NBA G League Draft. The trade is subject to Davis passing a physical.

Davis has signed into the NBA G League and will join Long Island’s roster to replace forward Drew Gordon, who recently suffered a season-ending right shoulder injury. Long Island will retain its rights to Gordon, who averaged 7.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per contest in 34 games for the Nets this season.

Davis (6’9”, 210) has appeared in 88 career NBA G League games (10 starts) over two seasons with the Windy City Bulls (2018) and Reno Bighorns (2016-18), recording averages of 8.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17.0 minutes per game while shooting 59.7 percent (315-of-528) from the field. In 46 games for Reno and Windy City last season, Davis averaged 7.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per contest before being selected by Capital City in the 2018 NBA G League Expansion Draft. He also played one season (2015-16) with Kolossos Rodou BC in Greece and has spent this season (2018-19) with Al Wasl Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The Sacramento, Calif., native played four collegiate seasons (2011-15) at UC Irvine, where he averaged 10.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 25.6 minutes per game. Davis ranks second in UC Irvine history in career rebounds (852) and ninth in career points (1,384). In his senior season, Davis was named to the 2015 All-Big West First Team, as well as being named Big West Tournament MVP.
