Long Island Nets Acquire Returning Player Rights to Deng Adel and JaKarr Sampson in Three-Team Trade

LONG ISLAND (Sept. 23, 2019) – The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have acquired the returning player rights to Deng Adel from Raptors 905 and the returning player rights to JaKarr Sampson from the Windy City Bulls in a three-team trade. In exchange, Long Island traded the returning player rights to J.J. Moore to Raptors 905 and the returning player rights to Milton Doyle to the Windy City Bulls. Windy City also traded the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA G League Draft to Raptors 905 as a part of the deal. The trade is not subject to physicals.
Adel (6’7, 200) appeared in 19 games (three starts) with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018-19 season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.0 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game after signing a two-way contract on Jan. 15. Adel also appeared in 37 NBA G League games last season split between Raptors 905 (25 games) and the Canton Charge (12 games), recording averages of 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 31.2 minutes per contest. Prior to beginning his professional career, Adel spent three years (2015-18) at Louisville, averaging 15.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 33.1 minutes per game as a junior. A native of South Sudan, Adel is an Australian citizen. He is currently signed to a contract with the Brooklyn Nets.
Sampson (6’9, 214) has appeared in 173 career NBA games (78 starts) over four seasons with Chicago (2019), Sacramento (2017-18), Denver (2016) and Philadelphia (2014-16), averaging 5.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per contest. He has also appeared in 108 career NBA G League games (80 starts) over four seasons with the Windy City Bulls (2018-19), Reno Bighorns (2017-18), Iowa Energy (2016-17) and Delaware 87ers (2014), recording averages of 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 27.8 minutes per game. Last season, Sampson averaged 21.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 blocks in 30.2 minutes per contest in 24 games for Windy City prior to signing a 10-day contract with Chicago on March 31. He then appeared in four games for Chicago, averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.8 minutes per game. The Akron, Ohio, native also spent time with Shandong in the Chinese Basketball Association at the start of the 2018-19 season. Prior to beginning his professional career, the 26-year-old played two collegiate seasons (2012-14) at St. John’s University. Sampson is currently signed to a contract with the Indiana Pacers.
Doyle (6’4, 180) appeared in 45 games (44 starts) for Long Island during the 2017-18 season, averaging 20.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.6 steals in 35.4 minutes per contest. He was originally acquired by Long Island as an affiliate player from the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the 2017-18 season and signed a two-way contract with Brooklyn on Dec. 18, 2017.
Moore (6’6, 215) appeared in 92 games (24 starts) over two seasons (2016-18) with Long Island, averaging 10.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per contest. He was originally acquired by Long Island in the third round of the 2016 NBA G League Draft after participating in Long Island’s 2016 local player tryout.
