Long Island Nets Acquire Rights to 12 Players in 2016 D-League Expansion Draft

BROOKLYN (August 24, 2016) – The Long Island Nets, the NBA Development League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, acquired the rights to 12 players in today’s 2016 NBA D-League Expansion Draft.

As the Long Island Nets prepare for their inaugural season, the 12 players selected in the Expansion Draft will form the team’s Returning Player List. All 2015-16 NBA D-League teams were able to protect the rights of up to 10 players as part of the draft process, with the Long Island Nets, Greensboro Swarm and Windy City Bulls then selecting from the pool of unprotected players from 2014-15 and 2015-16 D-League rosters. Each expansion team was allowed to select up to 12 players, with no more than two selections coming from any one existing team. The expansion teams will hold the rights to selected players for two seasons.
