Long Island Nets Acquire Charlie Marquardt

LONG ISLAND (Feb. 21, 2018) – The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have acquired guard Charlie Marquardt from the available player pool to replace forward Akil Mitchell while he plays with the Panama National Team.

Marquardt (6’3”, 185) appeared in four games for Long Island this season, averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 5.7 minutes per game prior to being waived on Jan. 18. He also participated in Long Island’s local player tryout on Sept. 30 and joined the team for training camp.

Prior to joining the Nets, Marquardt played four seasons (2013-17) at Molloy College on Long Island. In 28 games (all starts) as a senior, he recorded averages of 21.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.2 steals in 35.9 minutes per game. The Rockaway Beach, N.Y., native led the East Coast Conference in scoring last season en route to All-Conference First Team honors and set a single-game record in the ECC Finals when he scored 51 of Molloy’s 86 points on March 5 against Saint Thomas Aquinas College. He also led Molloy in scoring, 3-point field goal percentage (.411) and free throw percentage (.912) as a senior.
