Veteran of the Game


The Long Island Nets Veteran of the Game Program is designed to honor returning armed forces veterans who have worked to protect our freedoms. As part of Mohegan Sun and Bank of America’s Sponsorship of the Long Island Nets Veteran of the Game Program, the Nets will honor a veteran at each of the Nets 24 regular season home games.

Bart Polizzotti served in the United States Coast Guard for 21 years and has received numerous awards including a Coast Guard Achievement Medal with two Gold Stars.Richard Burgess has served two years in the Army’s Military Police as an E5 Operations Sergeant and is the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award

Howard is a proud Vietnam Veteran of the First Air Calvary Division. He has earned several awards including the NYS Conspicuous Service Cross. He has authored a book detailing his time in Vietnam and dedicating it to those who lost their lives. Howard is now a Commander of the VFW Post 1384 and the American Legion Post 972.

Representing the United States Air Force, Mark served from 2000-2002 as the first generation of C-17 Crew Cheif’s after the plane was released. He is also certified on over 500 mechanical tasks, he’s done one deployment and has saved over 50 missions.

Representing the United States Navy, Valerie served her Country from 1983-1990. Her tour of duty includes Operation Desert Storm. She completed her rank as an E5 Member of the U.S. Navy and has continued her life as a mom and AAU Basketball Coach.

Kristen served her Country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. She began her service in 1997 with 21 years of service and 14 1/2 years as an Active Duty Member while being deployed to Iraq. Gunnery Sergeant Erario’s Awards and Commendations include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and 4 time Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal Recipient

Representing the United States Navy, Randy served his Country through the Navy from 1969-1974. He was an Airographers Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer and served for two years on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Wasp. He then finished out his service time stateside at N.A.S. Meridian Mississippi.
