LONG ISLAND NETS ACQUIRE TYRONE WALLACE AND TERRICO WHITE

LONG ISLAND (Jan. 21, 2022) – The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have acquired guard Tyrone Wallace from the Agua Caliente Clippers in exchange for the returning player rights to Jeremiah Martin. The trade is not subject to a physical. In separate moves, Long Island reacquired guard Terrico White from the available player pool and requested waivers on forwards Wayne Blackshear and Talib Zanna.

The Nets were granted an injury replacement exemption by the NBA G League to allow for White’s additional roster spot while guard Marcus Zegarowski (right plantar fasciitis) misses time due to injury.

Wallace (6’5”, 198) has appeared in 106 career NBA games (19 starts) across three seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers (2017-19) and the Atlanta Hawks (2019-20), recording averages of 5.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 15.5 minutes per game. He has also appeared in 79 career NBA G League games (52 starts) over five seasons with Salt Lake City (2016-17), College Park (2019-20) and Agua Caliente (2017-21), averaging 17.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 29.6 minutes per contest. In 11 games (10 starts) during the 2020-21 season with Agua Caliente, Wallace posted averages of 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 31.6 minutes per game. The Bakersfield, Calif., native was drafted by Utah with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft after playing four collegiate seasons (2012-16) at the University of California-Berkeley. Wallace recorded career averages of 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 31.6 minutes per contest over 129 games (115 starts) and earned All-PAC 12 honors during his junior season with the Golden Bears.

White (6’5”, 213) was previously acquired by Long Island on Dec. 28 and waived on Dec. 30. He has appeared in 61 career NBA G League games (51 starts) over two seasons with the Bakersfield Jam (2015-16) and Idaho Stampede (2011-12), averaging 17.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 33.9 minutes per game. White has played nine seasons internationally (2012-21) in Australia, Korea, Puerto Rico, Turkey and Russia. Most recently, he spent the 2020-21 season overseas in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) with Brujos de Guayama, where he averaged 13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 30.8 minutes per contest over 24 games (all starts). The Memphis, Tenn., native was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the 36th overall pick in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft after playing two collegiate seasons (2008-10) at Ole Miss, recording career averages of 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 30.8 minutes per game over 66 games (55 starts). He earned 2009 SEC Freshman of the Year honors after his first season with the Rebels.

Martin appeared in 31 games (24 starts) in two seasons (2019-21) with Long Island, averaging 17.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 31.7 minutes per contest. He was originally acquired by the Brooklyn Nets as a two-way player during the 2019-20 season.

Blackshear was acquired by the Nets on Dec. 31 from the available player pool. In four appearances with Long Island, he recorded averages of 7.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 23.5 minutes per game.

Zanna was most recently acquired by Long Island on Jan. 20. In two appearances with the Nets, he averaged 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per contest.
