LONG ISLAND NETS ACQUIRE JARVIS WILLIAMS

LONG ISLAND (March 9, 2018) – The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have acquired guard Jarvis Williams from the available player pool.

Williams (6’6”, 195) appeared in eight games with the NBA G League’s Iowa Wolves this season, averaging 6.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 21.3 minutes per contest prior to being waived on Dec. 18. He has also played professionally for BC Boncourt Red Team in the Swiss LNA (2016-17), the NBA G League’s Erie BayHawks (2014-15) and Black Star Mersch in the Luxembourg Total League (2013-14). In 50 career NBA G League games with Iowa and Erie, Williams holds averages of 7.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21.0 minutes per game.

The Milwaukee, Wis., native played one collegiate season (2012-13) at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he averaged a team-leading 14.5 points per game en route to being named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. He also played two seasons (2010-12) at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay and one season (2009-10) at Kirkwood Community College in Iowa.

Williams will join Long Island’s roster to replace guard Tahjere McCall, who recently suffered a season-ending left wrist injury. Long Island will retain its rights to McCall, who averaged 9.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals in 28.2 minutes per contest in 37 games for the Nets this season.
