Veteran of the Game

 

The Long Island Nets Veteran of the Game Program is designed to honor returning armed forces veterans who have worked to protect our freedoms. As part of Mohegan Sun’s Sponsorship of the Long Island Nets Veteran of the Game Program, the Nets will honor a veteran at each of the Nets 24 regular season home games.

 

 

 

 

 

Clyde Braswell
Saturday, November 4, 2017
Clyde Braswell served his country for 16 years while being a member of the United States Army. He serves as an Active Duty Military Police Officer and is ranked as a Sergeant. Clyde served hist time stationed in Korea and in Fort Leavanworth, Kansas.
Bob Rydell

Bob Rydell is a U.S. Army Veteran who served a tour of Vietnam during the war from 1967-1968. He is a Specialist 4th class. He has been awarded with the Vietnam Service, Vietnam campaign, and National Defense Awards.

Representing the Navy, he served his country during the Vietnam War from 196701968, He is the President for the Chapter 82, Vietnam Veterans of America, Nassau County and the Color Guard Commander. He has received the Meritorious Unit Commendation and Korean Defense Medals.

Representing the Army, Tony served his country during the Vietnam War. Sparaco is a Purple Heart Recipient.

 Paul Masi

Representing the U.S. Marine Corps, Paul served his country during the Vietnam War from 1966-1967. He has received the Presidential Unit Citation and Combat Action Ribbon.
Ken McQuillar

Representing the United States Navy, Ken served his country from 1978-1984 as a cryptologic technician. He served his time at Guantanamo Bay and at Nav-Comm-U in London, England.
Khemet Jenkins

Khemet is currently serving his country as a radar technician and has toured overseas earning numerous medals including a Korean Defense Service Medal and two Army Commendation Medals.
Phoebe Ervin

Representing the United States Army, Phoebe served her country for twenty-one honorable years. She served tours in Guatemala, El Salvador, Italy, Panama, and has received multiple overseas and achievement medals inclduing Arcom Medals. She is now a retired Sergeant.

Representing the United States Army, Gary served as a Chapel Assistant. He was stationed in Germany and served his country from 1969-1972.

Representing the U.S. Navy, Al is a Korean War Veteran and a Seaman 1st Class who served his country from 1948-1953.
Representing the U.S. Army, Corporal Aaron Britvan served his country from 1953-1955.

Representing the United States Marine Corps, Chris served his country for twelve years as a nuclear and chemical weapons technician. Chris served two tours in Vietnam and spent three years in South America.
Eric and Sylinthia Burges

Sylinthia is Nassau County’s first female Veterans service officer and has served her country while in Korea, earning medals such as the Army Achievement Medal. Eric served his country in the 82nd Airborne since 2011 as has served 2 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Senior Logistics Manager for Motive. Eric is a highly decorated Veteran with medals such as 5 Army Achievement Medals and an Armed Forces Medal.

Representing the United States Air Force as a proud Trans Veteran Barbara served her country from 1963-1967. She served as an Air Craft Mechanic and served a tour in Vietnam. Barbara is also the Deputy Executive Director for the Long Island Nets Transgender Advocacy Coalition and a huge advocate of the trans community.

Representing the United States Air Force, Ava served her country from 2004-2011. She served in the Security Forces K-9 Unit and served a tour in Kuwait and Qatar.

Lisa is a Military Mom, President of the Nassau County Blue Star Mothers of America, and the Mother of Staff Sergeant Michael Ryan. Ryan has been in the United States Army since May 2010 and has completed two combat tours.
Marc Wolf

Representing the United States Navy, Marc was assigned to the Antisubmarine Squadron VS 31. He first enlisted at the Naval Air Station in Brooklyn and was deployed twice aboard the USS Intrepid. Marc served from 1970-1976.

Representing the United States Army, Jeffery was a member of the 82nd Airborne serving his Country from 1982-1988. While enlisted Jeffery worked in communications and was deployed for a combat tour in Grenada. He took part in Operation Urgent Fury to rescue hostages on the Island.

Representing the United States Navy, Rick was a member of the 82nd Airborne serving his Country from 1978-1990. He served a combat tour in Lebanon from 1982-1983. While enlisted, Rick served as a Navy Radioman within communications and is now the Nassau County District of Veteran Affairs Commander as well as the Veterans Beneficiaries Councilor for the Town of Hempstead.
